The Clabecq plant's strategy is to strengthen its position in high added-value products by producing abrasion-resistant steels for the transport, mining and recycling sectors, and high yield strength steels for the mobile crane market, among others. We are present with all the major manufacturers and sell in Europe and abroad (50% of volume).

These products have been added to our traditional range of steels for construction, shipbuilding and pressure vessels, with a particular focus on thin gauge steels.

In order to strengthen the technical support given to the sales department and directly to customers, and to adapt to the growth of these markets, we are looking for External Quality Engineer CTS

Function

Mission:

  • Develop the necessary knowledge of production processes to ensure optimum quality for a product line.
  • Answer technical questions from the sales organisation;
  • Develop knowledge of the performance of our products;
  • Handle customers' technical disputes;
  • Capture the technical development needs of products made by NLMK Clabecq ;

Activities:

  • Coordinate projects to develop new products and improve existing products (modification of production recipes);
  • Develops technical contact with customers, handles technical complaints and visits customers in support of the sales organisation;
  • Regularly analyses product properties, identifies the key parameters influencing these properties and implements improvement or correction plans;
  • Represents the technical aspects of products to the sales department (demonstrates the advantages of our products, analyses the development of competing products, develops technical sales arguments, identifies customer comments and development needs);
  • Maintains up-to-date product knowledge (metallurgical routes, product developments, technical data sheets);
  • Collaborates with the Internal Quality Engineer and provides him/her with the voice of the customer;
  • Prepares technical training on our products (for sales staff, production staff, etc.);
  • Analyses the impact of our products/processes on the environment and highlights opportunities for improvement;
  • Analyses technical problems encountered by customers, proposes solutions and identifies opportunities for product improvement;
  • Identifies risks/problems arising from the company's slab suppliers;

Profile

  • You have a degree in Industrial or Civil Engineering
  • You speak French and English
  • Experience in a technical field in metallurgy is desirable (quality, development, production, etc.)
  • Experience in machine building (OEM, lifting equipment, etc.) and/or steel construction is also taken into consideration.
  • You have good interpersonal skills (team spirit, internal and external communication);
  • You are customer-focused (diplomatic and firm);
  • You are prepared to work in the field and, if necessary, inspect sheet metal;
  • You have strong analytical skills and a good ability to summarise (recognising and sorting priorities);
  • You have a flair for innovation and improvement (including environmental and safety issues);
  • You are willing to travel: +/- 10 to 20% of the time.
