Function
Mission
The Electrical Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the optimal operation of equipment, materials and infrastructures, while respecting reliability, quality, safety and budget objectives. He/she works on the equipment that constitutes the heart of the hot strip mill process at La Louvière factory, a site capable of producing 2 million tonnes of steel per year.
Main responsibilities
- Ensure the reliability of equipment in the area for which he/she is responsible
- Analyze the causes and consequences of equipment failures, define the necessary actions and ensure follow-up.
- Establish weekly and monthly maintenance priorities for the area (direct intervention, weekly maintenance, major maintenance).
- Define the content of maintenance plans, assess their relevance and need for updating.
- Define spare parts procurement strategy
- Analyze the recurrence of non-standard events and ensure that controls are planned
- Plan, prepare and evaluate external maintenance services
- Ensure that internal preparation activities are carried out correctly
- Gather, formalize and share knowledge of how equipment and systems work, and help to ensure that they are properly understood.
- Manage the necessary tests
- Validate the quality of technical interventions carried out
- Participate in an on-call role outside service hours
Profile
Your background
You have an electrical engineering background. Master's and bachelor's degrees are both relevant.
- Candidates with a Master's degree should have at least 2 years' experience in maintenance in the steel industry, or at least 5 years' experience in industrial maintenance.
- Candidates with a Bachelor's degree should have at least 10 years' experience in industrial maintenance.
Your skills
- Good electrical skills (reading electrical plans, P&ID, etc.) with basics mechanical skills.
- Good command of industrial maintenance processes.
- Knowledge of failure mode analysis techniques (FMECA - AMDEC), root cause analysis, Ishikawa, etc.
- Dialogue skills (listening and communication skills).
- Team player with good listening and communication skills.
- Organized, efficient and able to prioritize.
- Takes responsibility independently and makes decisions (from simple to complex) in all situations.
- Knowledge of French (min. C1) and technical English (B2).

The environment
The reliability team is managed by our Maintenance Engineering Manager. His team consists of 4 Mechanical Maintenance Engineers and 4 Electrical Maintenance Engineers (this position included).
As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the electrical maintenance of one of the 4 zones of our Hot Strip Mill. You will manage your mission autonomously and can rely on your direct or cross-functional team (each zone has its own engineers specialized in production, mechanics, electricity, autonomation, process and methods).
NLMK La Louvière is a historic factory in Wallonia, formerly Boël, and nonetheless a modern industry. The NLMK La Louvière Hot Strip Mill underwent an ambitious revamping program, which was completed in 2023. Our production facility is the most modern in Central Europe and offers a stimulating playground.
Other projects are ongoing to diversify steel supplies and even develop our own steelworks in Europe. Transformations are underway to renew our business model, which is still viable today, in order to limit the impact of the European authorities' reduction in the import of Russian steel by the end of 2028.
