Function

Mission
As Quality Control Lead, you will report to the Quality & Metallurgy Manager of NLMK La Louvière, for whom you will act as backup.

You will lead a team of two Quality Control Officers, with whom you will be responsible for maintaining quality standards throughout the operational perimeter of the NLMK La Louvière. The site comprises 5 installations, divided into a hot production unit and a cold production unit.

You will manage activities related to quality and ensure that products delivered to customers comply with company requirements. To achieve this, you will work with production and maintenance teams to ensure quality control of manufactured products. You also manage process improvements to reduce the number of non-conformities with these same colleagues.

Main responsibilities

  • Control
    You will ensure that self-checking rules are properly implemented: you will participate in maintaining detection tools, drafting reaction rules and training production operators.

  • Product Quality Control
    You are responsible for the quality of the products. To do this, you can rely on a team of operators who periodically sample a part of the production to check that it conforms to standards. The most important thing is to avoid delivering non-compliant products to customers.
  • Managing production stops
    In the event of a defective product, you immediately alert production, which stops the line, and a crisis management team is set up between production and quality to find the source of the problem. It's important to solve the problem quickly, because as long as the line is stopped, the company is losing money.
    Once the source of the problem has been identified and resolved, production can resume.

  • Continuous improvment
    Alongside day-to-day quality management, you will be involved in analyzing problems over a longer period, and in projects to improve the production line or processes to reduce the number of defective products.

  • Suppliers-Customers
    • You participate in drawing up specifications and monitoring external suppliers, pickling and toll rolling. You act as the quality interface with La Louvière's own subsidiaries (Manage and Strasbourg) and implement quality improvement initiatives;
    • You take part in the technical handling of disputes by taking immediate remedial action and steering corrective actions affecting quality control and production;
    • You take part in analyzing the causes of complaints.

  • Technical feasibility
    You will be involved in drawing up the technical feasibility of installations, ensuring that this capability is respected.

  • Team Management
    You will coordinate and monitor the projects of a team of two quality managers, each covering one of the two production units (Hot Strip Mill & Cold Rolling Mill).
